It's a bit complicated to explain the making off the layouts for Flashpoint: Secret Seven without being a little indiscreet with the publishing intricacies, but I'll try.

Initially, I was going to pencil and ink a few pages of #1 and I finally, did layouts of the whole series, except what George Perez had already done (15 pages of #1); layouts that later have been passed along to Scott Koblish, making it all look close to Perez's style.

These layouts are being one of the jobs that I feel more satisfied about, probably my best work to date. However, I will not have the satisfaction of seeing them printed because my style is very different from George Perez and the difference between the layouts and the finishes is quite easy to see.
I'm not saying this as something negative, It’s just a fact and I also knew that it was going to be like this, because that's what the editors needed. I accepted doing this job because I really wanted to work with Peter Milligan, one of my favorite writers, and also because it stars Shade: The Changing Man, and the tone of the series is the closest thing to Vertigo that you can find out Vertigo itself, and well, after almost 4 years doing almost nothing for DC I wanted to work with them again.

In fact, since I haven't been responsible for the finishes on the page, I have been able to take advantage of it, and to experiment from a graphic and narrative standpoint, without any fear. So in the end, this is still an opportunity to take a step forward with my work, a somersault ... but with a safety net.
And probably driven by this zeal to experiment, I have exceeded the level of finishes layouts usually have, and in some cases, they look like pencils and in others, even like inks (although this is more due to the fact that, working with the Cintiq, you can finish a lot of things things directly.)
